Kimralingvo en Eŭropo

...de la Daily Post:

Nine Welsh language interpreters have passed the European Union interpretation test.

The interpreters visited Brussels last month to take the tough test and all were all praised for their skill.

They can now take part in demanding translating work during European Union debates where up to 20 languages may be spoken, including Welsh.

Geraint Wyn Parry of Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru (Association of Welsh Translators and Interpreters) said: “The pass rate of 75% is fantastic when you consider that only about 40% of candidates usually succeed.

Welsh Language Board chairman Meri Huws said: “The new status of the Welsh language within the European Union is another important landmark.”
