Semestro en Bretonio

...de Retriever Weekly:

Bonjour! I have been living in France for almost a month now. My home for the semester is Rennes, the capital of the Brittany region, the corner of northwest France that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean and the English Channel.

What is interesting about this area is that although it is without a doubt French, it also has deep Celtic roots, including its own Celtic language, Breton.

Unfortunately I have yet to meet someone who speaks Breton, but since this is the capitol, all the street signs are written in both French and Breton, which is fun to try to pronounce.

Of course there are the touristy shops selling all sorts of Celtic trinkets. Tourism is, after all, a huge market all over Europe.
