Checkout Cymraeg

...de la Daily Post:

Supermarket shoppers will be asked in Welsh if they’d like help to pack their goods this week, in an effort to encourage more people to learn the language.

Checkout staff at Asda, Co-op and Tesco are inviting shoppers to speak Welsh with basic phrases such as Sut dach chi heddiw? (How are you today?) and Hoffech chi help gyda’ch pacio? (Would you like help with your packing?).

It is part of a Welsh Assembly-backed campaign called
Checkout Cymraeg, to get shoppers to use basic Welsh phrases when paying for their goods.
