David Bremner

Caithness civic leader David Bremner says the Highland Council's decision not to allow the county to exempt itself from its bilingual road-signs policy is not the end of the matter.

Mr Bremner believes that "the vast majority" of local folk supported eight of their councillors in a bid to get the county excluded from the policy on English/Gaelic signs.

He says he will be compiling evidence over the next few weeks in support of the clear indications he has received to date that most people in Caithness take the view that Gaelic signage has no place in the county's culture.
