Irlanda Literaturo

...de la Clarion Ledger:

St. Patrick's Day is coming, and with it an annual surge in fascination with all things Irish. One of the hallmarks of Irish culture, of course, is literature. Few nations so small can boast as many legendary writers..

Chris Fox has a theory about why. He's director of the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies at the University of Notre Dame.

"One of the reasons language is so important to the Irish is they lost one," says Fox. "Gaelic was effectively eradicated by colonial policy and, of course, by the famine."
