Stevie Davies la Western Mail:

The Welsh have been nomads – within our own country and beyond, dispersing like seeds all over the globe, impelled by penury, hunger, unemployment, missionary zeal, intolerance and British military adventure.

This evening I am holding at the centre of my mind the two-way progress, our double-bound journeys – out of Wales, back to Wales.

I’m aware of our double linguistic inheritance: yr hen iaith, exiled and reclaimed; our English tongue, imposed and then embraced as our own.
